Nellore, March 16 (TNN): The police at Atmakur in Nellore district filed a case against the Atmakur Telugu Desam Party MLA, Mr Kommi Lakshmaiah, and his 30 followers on the charge of insulting the National Flag.

A few days ago, Mr Lakshmaiah and his followers on a visit to a Government Degree college at Sanjivnagar in Atnakur were enraged on seeing tri-colour flag symbols on the walls. The MLA shouted and screamed at the principal and lecturers and dubbed them as “Congress agents.”

He forced the college management to whitewash the walls to erase the tri-colour flag symbols on the walls.

He was not in a mood to listen to the explanation offered by the lecturers that the symbols are of the National Flag.

The lecturers protested at “audacious behaviour” of the MLA. The lecturers even volunteered to give interviews to the news channels, condemning the MLA and his followers and demanded that they be booked for insulting the National Flag.

After a lot of furore by the people, the police were forced to book a case against the MLA and his followers
