Facebook has announced more changes to its social media utility - but this one could leave some a little red in the face.

The networking site is under fire after revelations that adult porn sites could show up on people's account timelines.

Technology blog Techwag has warned users to prepare for embarrassing connections that could be made in the coming weeks.

As part of the timeline feature, users will have an ongoing record of activities when on Facebook.

So will others when they view their page.

This could be particularly hazardous as users rarely log off their Facebook account while they browse the internet.

If a porn site uses passive sharing options with Facebook, has a "like" button of lets people sign into their site with a user's Facebook details, then this activity will be recorded on the timeline.

Techwag blogger Rmorrill says it's happening: "Imagine my surprise to see a couple of porn sites this morning using Facebook Connect, and yes, they knew who I was.

"Embarrassed possibly, more humoured because this really is how the adult industry is going to get into social media and it will be done because users rarely log out of Facebook (even that might not help) and Facebook Connect is everywhere."

This will only happen if users choose to visit porn sites. CITI_c$y CITI_c$y CITI_c$y
