Both are same..... but technically i really dunno the exact difference. May be :

Layer 3 switch series starts from c3560 onwards.... by default works at L2 & though the switch can work at layer 3 , but u need to put right IOS ( supporting L3 like IP Services)
Multilayer Switch (c65xx) ...... by default works at L3, but also supports L2

layer 3 switch is a switch which has router in it.
multilayer switch is a switch which has the ability to cache route info.
layer 3 switch can also be a multilayer switch but not vice versa.
