even I Lost My passport when I was doing my Master so experience..
First apply for passport from the nearest Indian embassy
No need to apply for i-94 so don't waste your time there
Secondly when you go to India for your bros marriage go for Stamping show the the FIR and your old passport copies and necessary documentations thats it.
and when you travelling via british airways show you old passport copies and the FIR filed here it should not be an issue.

thankyou thankyou for the information.
Never knew about this option of FIR being valid for travelling..

canada toronto us embassy ki call chesi ila poyindi vastanu anu then they will ask you to book visa slot, then get a signed letter from college dso that you lost pp and need a visa ani techuko istaru...then get all the necessary documents like old pp,old visa, old i94 copies and copies mentioned for new visa like your bank statements and all docs you had for indian visa.

get a canadian visa

go to canada and get stamped

go to indian embassy with all old xerox copies and fir , explain them the situation, you have to be at embassy by 8am in the morning they will open by 9 and there will be a big line if you are late and they take applications until 11 , so make sure you be the first in line and explain your urgency to the clerks there and ask for a tatkal process which they wont tell otherwise, and pay the asked money...

with tatkal process you will get the passport sameday by 4pm evening.
after paying money you will be asked to meet the consulate general ,who will ask you regarding old pp act innocent and put a sad face ....

if you follow this your passport will be with you in 1 day.

ps:This is first hand experience so dont have any doubts regarding the answr
