TDP welcomes G.O. on Srisailam level

CUDDAPAH, OCT. 11. The Telugu Desam Party leaders of Rayalaseema region welcome G.O. 107 to maintain MDDL of 854 ft in Srisailam reservoir and threatened to wage an agitation if leaders of other regions pressurised the Government to withdraw it, the TDP district official spokesman, Redyam Venkata Subba Reddy, said on Monday.

Calling the `fuss' being created by leaders of Telangana and coastal Andhra against the G.O. as `unwarranted and ridiculous', the TDP leader said at a press conference here that maintenance of 854 ft level in Srisailam reservoir was inevitable to ensure drawal of irrigation water to projects such as KC Canal, SRBC and Telugu Ganga through the Pothireddipadu head regulator, whose sill level was at 841 ft.

Congress stand recalled

 

Mr. Venkata Subba Reddy recalled that Ministers, MLAs and TDP leaders called on the previous Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, under the leadership of the then Congress leader, M.V. Mysoora Reddy, last year demanding maintenance of MDDL in Srisailam reservoir to facilitate release of water to KC Canal.

The standing crops in Rayalaseema region would not get irrigation water under projects until the level was maintained at 854 ft, he maintained.

Beyond party lines

 

Urging the party leaders in Nagarjunasagar and Krishna delta areas -- Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, G. Sukhender Reddy and K. Srihari and the TRS leader, Vidyasagar Rao -- to stop airing undue criticism on G.O. 107, he asserted that the TDP would join any like-minded persons waging an agitation to ensure implementation of the G.O.

He urged the Congress leaders, D.L. Ravindra Reddy and N. Thulasi Reddy, not to level allegations that TDP leaders of Rayalaseema too were against the G.O.
