Job Description:
Unix Systems Engineering: 
• Unix Programming (ruby, python, perl, shell scripting) 
• Configuration of multi-user, multi-host, multi-OS, server environments 
• Configuration Management tools (esp. Chef) 
• Unix OSs: Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS 
• Host-based firewall management (iptables, ipf) 
• Enterprise services (nfs, ntp, dns, smtp, cifs, ldap) 
• Converged infrastructure technologies 
 
Resource Tasks: 
ESX migration - 
• Remaining migration from Unix ESX cluster to Windows cluster. Need VMWare tools installed. Moving from 9990 to HUS. 5 - 5.1 machine. 60 VMs. 15 minutes of downtime each to move to new cluster. A couple unlicensed Solaris VMs for Telecom and virus filtering. 
Password management 
• Create temporary local accounts 
• All user authentication should be done through LDAP 
• All Unix admins should use sudo 
• Remote root logins should be disabled except for console access 
Email cleanup/migration - 
• Assist Time tracking 
• Overhaul Patch management 
• SOP consolidation 
Qualifications:
At least (3-5) years current enterprise RedHat experience
RHEL v. 4, 5, 6 experience, Ubuntu, Cent a plus
Chef for configuration mgmt a plus
VMware v. 4, 5 experience 
skills in the areas of: RedHat Linux systems engineering, server deployment, configuration, and management; RedHat Cluster Suite, Mulipathing, Kickstart, Bonding, and XEN virtualization.
Desirable: RedHat certifications (either RHCSA or RHCE) and scripting experience
Excellent customer relations skills
