Plz Plz Help Me Brothers ...............................

In July 2015, I did my H1B and wifes H4 stamping in India using my
most latest H1 extension approval with current employer. Got visas
till Jan 2018
At port of entry (Minneapolis airport), got I-94 validity till May
2016 for both me and wife which is same as my old passport expiry. The
officer wrote 'PP expiry date of H1B' in both my and wifes passports.
Now applied for my new passport in BLS Chicago. Awaiting for it.
I had following questions:
1) After getting new passport can I go to same port of entry
(Minneapolis airport) to renew my and my wifes I-94?
2) Can I go to Canada border by road and take a U-turn to re-enter US
for I-94 extension. Its just 5 hrs drive from Minneapolis. Will I
require Canada visa for this?
3) Or do I have to go back to India for I-94 extension?
4) Can I go out of the country as soon as I get my new passport? Or I
have to wait till it is closer to my I-94 end date i.e. May 2016.
Asking because I am not sure if they will give same I-94 date if I go
out soon
Any other options?

same situation i faced recently...local CBP officers are not doing it anymore....even they will suggest to exit and entry the country.thats the only option..i went to cancun and came back same day.In you case you can go to canada .
