Kool_SRG
Dhawan injured, Gambhir in line to play Indore Test India opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the third and final Test against New Zealand in Indore starting October 8 due to a "very minor fracture" on his left thumb that could take at least 15 days to heal. As a result Gautam Gambhir, who had been drafted into the squad after KL Rahul was injured during the Kanpur Test, is in line to play a Test after a gap of two years. Dhawan, who made 1 and 17 in Kolkata, injured himself while batting on the third day, when he was struck twice on the thumb by Trent Boult. "Shikhar has a "very minor fracture" on his hand. He is under observations, and he has been advised 15 days' rest," India's media manager Nishant Arora confirmed. "So he is ruled out for the next Test match. The selectors have been informed." While a decision on his replacement is yet to be made, it is likely that Gambhir could return following a good showing in the Duleep Trophy, in which he made 356 runs in five innings with four half-centuries. His last Test was during India's 1-3 series loss in England in 2014, when he aggregated 25 runs in four innings. That series, too, was a comeback for him, as he was dropped in 2012 and missed all India's Tests in 2013 due to a sharp decline in form. Gambhir, 34, has 4046 Test runs at 42.58 with nine centuries and 21 half-centuries. The last of Gambhir's nine Test tons came against Bangladesh in Chittagong in January 2010, when he made 116. Kool_SRG
No Shikhar Dhawan for India vs New Zealand 3rd Test; Karun Nair gets a call The southpaw has been advised 15 days' rest after picking up a thumb fracture. hikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of India's final Test match against New Zealand, scheduled to start on Saturday in Indore. The southpaw has been advised rest for 15 days after picking up a minor fracture on his left thumb during the second Test match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. India won the Test match to win the series. Dhawan has been replaced by Karun Nair, the BCCI have confirmed. India bagged the three-match Test series 2-0 and also regained their numero uno position in the ICC Test rankings after beating the Kiwis by 178 runs. In the match, Dhawan was hit twice by New Zealand pacer Trent Boult in the thumb and x-rays and scans have revealed a minor fracture. The rest period rules him out for the Third Test match. "A very minor fracture has occurred and he has been recommended 15 days rest, which effectively rules him out of the next Test," the India team's media manager was quoted as saying to the PTI. "Selectors have been informed about his status," he added. The incident effectively opens up a spot for comeback-man Gautam Gambhir to feature for India as the opening batsman in the third and final Test against New Zealand. Kool_SRG
Shardul Thakur replaces injured Bhuvneshwar A back strain has ruled Bhuvneshwar Kumar out of the third Test between India and New Zealand in Indore. According to a BCCI release, Bhuvneshwar sustained the injury during the second Test in Kolkata. Shardul Thakur has replaced him in India's squad. Bhuvneshwar played a key role in India's 178-run win in Kolkata, taking six wickets in the match including a five-for in the first innings that gave India a decisive 112-run lead. It was his second five-wicket haul in three Test matches. His injury is the second major blow to India's pace attack in the series. Ishant Sharma has played no part in the series, after being diagnosed with the mosquito-borne viral infection chikungunya. Thakur is yet to play a Test match for India. The Mumbai seamer earned his first call-up to the squad during India's tour of the West Indies in July-August.

Kool_SRG
4.5 Patel to Vijay, OUT, what a catch that is at short leg! Latham the fielder! Vijay came forward and flicked the ball and got a good chunk of the bat on it, the ball flew quickly but straight at Latham, who was doing the right things in terms of getting into position for such a chance. The ball struck his arm, then bobbled along his body before he grasped it in his hands M Vijay c Latham b Patel 10 (18b 2x4 0x6) SR: 55.
Kool_SRG
19.5 Boult to Gambhir, OUT, lbw! Boult has his man after hitting the back pad. The ball was pitched on a good length just outside off and came into the left-hander with the angle from over the wicket, beating the inside edge as Gambhir pushed forward to defend with a short stride. The ball may have even grazed the front pad before hitting the back pad, the impact was in line with off stump and that looked pretty plumb. That ball kept a bit low too.
