Do something to my mother land!!

Am sure people who are in USA on whatever visa can donate a $ and if we can  donate even a $ and make some ngo or something and can contribute to our motherland. Can this be done?? If so what's the procedure. My options are using money to give access to internet or donate for some school to open a computer lab or a library in small government school. Point is to use money for something that can educate the needed and even if it makes one kid successful the point is served. If I want to do this how do I proceed?

i got admission in SJSU man... and currently working full time in fortune 500 company form past 8yrs. but salary not sufficient.
