 overlooked though it was Eco Sport...    Endeavour Superb asalu very few SUVs command such road presence as Endeavour does.

Chevrolet Cruze discounted by up to Rs. 4 lakh on select stock and dealers as an aftermath of the brand exiting India by the end of 2017.

Chevrolet introduced a minor facelift to its Cruze sedan in late January 2016 amidst a new generation model was well up and running in global market. Just a month later, up to Rs. 86,000 was reduced from its price to appeal for more customers. By September, a voluntary recall program was organized by General Motors to fix the faulty ignition system for the Cruze models manufactured between 2009 and 2011. Earlier this year, GM managed to cut down Rs. 2.45 lakh from its top-end variant as part of a special year end offer. It is safe to say that Cruze has had an eventful outing in the last few years despite GM trying to push the envelope and make it a top-seller within the Chevrolet brand, as evident from the myriad of discounts we mentioned here. However, in contrary to being a capable product, the sales were not as impressive as GM might have anticipated.

As General Motors announced its discontinuation from the domestic market recently by the end of this year, the resident stocks are in eager of reaching customers. Bear in mind that General Motors won’t be selling any cars starting from next year but the existing customers will have their vehicles services and supported. Whether to buy a Chevrolet now is strictly down to the personal preference, but the discounts on offer are as lucrative as they get. Over its lifespan, the variants of Cruze are narrowed down to just two as there is a diesel manual and a diesel automatic. In select stocks and dealerships up to Rs. 4 lakh discount is being provided which makes the LTZ MT priced at Rs. 9.99 lakh and Rs. 10.99 lakh for the AT range-topper (both prices ex-showroom, New Delhi).

On the mechanical side, the Cruze sedan comes equipped with the 2.0-litre VCDi diesel engine which is good enough to generate a best-in-class power output of 164 bhp and 380 Nm of peak torque. Driving the front wheels is through a standard six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic gearbox.

GST Impact: Honda City Price Will Increase by Considerable Margin

Increase in Honda City prices will come as a consequence of the new GST laws that are going to be effective from July 1 onwards Honda City is a top selling sedan in the C segment for years now and it will have its price influenced by the new GST tax structure. Considering the existing price of the VMT Petrol variant at Rs. 10.12 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and the inclusion of 43 percent cess by the new rules, the proposed GST rates could increase the price by around Rs. 11,000. The Japanese manufacturer launched the facelifted City a few months ago and has its top-end being stretched to a higher price range due to the inclusion of several premium features. However, it retained its engine line-up with the tried and tested units doing the regular duties.

 

The 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated V-TEC petrol engine produces 120 hp power and 140 Nm of peak torque, and comes mated with a five-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine makes 100 hp and 220 Nm of torque connected to a five-speed manual transmission. Under the new GST tax structure, automobiles will attract 28 percent tax with cess in 1 to 15 percent range based on the length and the engine in which the vehicle is powered with. The gasoline medium of cars stretching below four metres in length and has engine capacity less than 1,200 cc gets 1 percent cess and diesel cars below 1,500 cc will come with 3 percent cess.
 

Larger vehicles with engine capacity of above 1,500 cc and length measuring more than four metres will be subjected to a total of 15 percent cess. Some of the brands like Audi, BMW, Ford Isuzu, Jaguar Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz have reacted in the wake of GST to pass on the benefits to customers with immediate effect, mostly on limited availability of stock before the rules come into existence from July 1 onwards.
