Yes brother. It is the way to go. No one wants to work for 15?years in h1 and same role. I dont know about other firms, but my firm said if i become tge manager, they would entertain the idea. Everything in right way.

Dont ask your hr bcoz they agreed for me. They only said it is an option if i check all boxes and work like crazy for next few years.
