A survey by ABP and C-Voter has predicted a decisive advantage in favour of the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in the upcoming assembly elections.

According to the survey, in the 200-seat Rajasthan assembly, the Congress is expected to sweep the polls by winning 146 seats. The ruling BJP is expected to win just 56 seats. Two are likely to be won by other parties.

In Madhya Pradesh, where Shivraj Singh Chouhan has converted the state into his own citadel, the BJP is likely to fall short of majority for the first time in over a decade. In the 230-seat assembly, the survey said, the Congress will secure a comfortable majority by winning 122 seats. The saffron party has been predicted to win just 108 seats.

 

It seems that the BSP’s Mayawati may not play any decisive role. The BSP supremo last week had announced to go alone in the polls without an alliance with the Congress.

In Chhattisgarh too, there is a good news for the Congress, according to the ABP News-V-Voter survey. In the 90-seat state assembly, the Congress is expected to win 47 seats, while 40 seats appear to be going to the BJP.

The Election Commission on Saturday announced the poll dates for the three states. While Madhya Pradesh will go to polls on 28 November, Chhattisgarh will have two-phase elections. The first phase of polling will take place on 12 November, while the remaining 72 seats in the northern Chhattisgarh will see elections on 20 November.

As for Rajasthan, elections here will take place on 7 December along with Telangana.
