Chinmayi sripada against caste

Chinmayi Sripada updated their status.

The caste system and the perpetuation of oppression in its name is the biggest scourge of a religion, the proponents and followers of which say it is a way of life. If each had really followed the essence of this religion, the caste system wouldn't have come into existence and thrived this long. And unless this ghastly system and the laws (?!) of Manusmriti are eradicated and forgotten, all men and women in society treated equally with dignity and respect, there is no point in chest thumping about the Hindu way of life. Lord Krishna at Udupi chose to turn to look at his favourite disciple Kanakadasa, Vithoba's cheek was swollen when his devotee Chokha Mela was slapped by the temple priest, Krishna himself came as a witness to Sakshi Gopal; He came as the caretaker of a child in the forest whenever he called him, afraid of the dark.... there are countless stories to serve as an example that God resides and comes to the aid of those pure of heart. But we fail to learn, we refuse to recognise and rise above the politics of a religion that needs and breeds the concepts of oppression and we, like sheep, don't think, dont question and blindly follow.

We see an aspect of God in cows, in dogs and even a mouse, a crow, the peacock, the rooster and the swan, the tiger, the lion, in a tree and a plant, in stones precious or not, above all we believe God and its energies resides in an idol carved by man (I understand the concept of pratishtha and etc) and that the idol is energised after the pratishtha is done, again by a man invested with the sacred knowledge, but we still havent grown the capacity to see a fellow human as the temple in which God is said to reside. Every saint, every enlightened being, every realised soul has said it. But what makes us not heed the words of the realized saints when we sing the songs and Bhajans they wrote? Why dont we try and live a life as written by Narsinh Mehta in Vaishnav Janato? How many times have we heard this song as Indians?

How much longer will Hindus take to remove this one cancerous aspect and not justify oppression on a conveniently misunderstood aspect of the Karma theory? What about the bad karma one accumulates when one is silent allowing cruelty on a fellow being? Is that OK in the eyes of the God we follow?

It is time we cleaned up. High time.

she's a superstar singer.

mee language lo cheppalantey, she can buy her detractors twice over. her husband is rich too. so she can walk away and still lead a great life.

ofcourse, what she wrote is crap. uppercaste people can write only crap from their limited experience of the world from the bubble they live in. but still she's doing atleast something. much better than people who abuse her for outing kula peddalu of her own caste.

you know what Nassim Taleb calls 'Fcuk you money". when someone earns that, they can say fcuk you to anyone without much financial consequence.

Chinmayi has earned it long time back. she can say fcuk you to whoever she wants to, as long as she has her husband/friends to fill her life with.

that feeling is awesome. you have to experience it.

wat she said is 100 % true, Lord krishna says in Bhagavad gita in chapter 4 verse 10 :

According to the three modes of material nature and the work associated with them, the four divisions of human society are created by Me. And although I am the creator of this system, you should know that I am yet the nondoer, being unchangeable.

and also in chapter 18 verse 41:

Brāhmaṇas, kṣatriyas, vaiśyas and śūdras are distinguished by the qualities born of their own natures in accordance with the material modes, O chastiser of the enemy.

So it is very clear that hindu scriptures (spoken by god almighty not written by humans) that varna or caste system is based on person's qualities not by their birth.  And yes many upper castes hindus in the past intentionally manipulated it for their own gains . There is no denying in this fact.

There is no point in chest thumping about hindu way of life where caste system exists.

God resides in every human being , not energised idols, animals

No one has clear theory on Karma , its misunderstood.
