Kane Williamson flies back home under unfortunate circumstances, to miss CSK clash in Chepauk

IPL 2019, CSK vs SRH: Big blow for the visitors as skipper Kane Williamson flies back home following the death of his grandmother and will hence miss the Chepauk clash.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Kane Williamson has flown back home to New Zealand following the death of his grandmother and hence will miss out on the team's IPL 2019 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chepauk Stadium on Tuesday. He will be expected to join the team ahead SRH's next league fixture against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur on Saturday (April 27).

In the absence of Williamson, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will take over the responsibility of leading the team. The Indian pacer had led SRH in the franchise's first five matches this season when Williamson was still nursing a shoulder injury. Since return, The Kiwi has scored only 28 runs this season in the four matches he played.

SRH, the runners-up of the previous season, started off on a promising note in IPL 2019 as they won three out of their first four matches before losing three out of their next three which incidentally coincided with Williamson's return to the tournament. However, they did make a comeback with wins over CSK (home fixture) and KKR as SRH stand fourth in the points table with 10 points in nine games.

Either Mohammad Nabi or Shakib Al Hasan will be the likely replacement for Williamson in the CSK clash. With both being spin bowling all-rounders, SRH will hope to reap benefits on the sluggish Chepauk track that does aid spinners. SRH will already have the presence of Rashid Khan and Shahbaz Nadeem in the playing XI. Meanwhile, for Jonny Bairstow, it is his final IPL game this season as national duty beckons the Englishman for impending England vs Pakistan series next month.

Form the CSK dugout, Harbhajan Singh could make a comeback to the playing XI. The discarded Indian offie who has bagged two Man of the Match awards this season, missed out on all the four matches that CSK played away from home since their last Chepuak game, owing to a stiff neck.

MI rope in Beuran Hendricks as Joseph's replacement

hendricks-has-previously-been.jpg

Mumbai Indians have signed up left-arm pacer Beuran Hendricks as replacement for the injured Alzarri Joseph for the rest of the Indian Premier League 2019. The South African pacer has previously been a part of King XI Punjab's set-up in IPL.

Joseph sustained an injury on his right arm during MI's game against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede stadium on April 13. The West Indian pacer, who came in as a replacement for the injured Adam Milne, hurt his right arm while trying to stop a boundary hit by Shreyas Gopal in the 19th over of RR's innings. The tall fast bowler had earlier taken his career best T20 figures of 6 for 12 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Hendricks, the 28-year-old, has played 64 T20s, picking up 89 scalps at an average of just over 20. He has also played two ODIs and 10 T20Is for South Africa

MI lock horns against Chennai Super Kings in their next IPL 2019 game in Chennai on April 26.
