what are you even try to say.... fingers were behind the ball, not under the ball. Its not a dropped catch, the ball didnt carry all the way to the fielder.... he knew it, anduke initially he was hesitant and then realised he has aussie blood so repeated ponting 2008...

When such catches are reviewed,, the on field umpire usually gives his opinion , called as soft signal.

He might be unsure whether it carried or not but didn't bounce for me for sure.. 

Ponting saga kind of ayithe leru le ippudu particularly after Smith and Warner episode.
