He was close to 50% in the polls before he was jailed. He would've crushed Bolsonaro.

Brazil is not like India. It has a much more horrible racially charged history unlike India which is a very diverse nation. especially, Indians don't elect the prime minister.

depends on what you mean by turn around. Brazil was doing great under Lula itself. he'll simply sell public firms, and call it kickstarting the economy. just like Trump's tax cuts.

Most of india is not working middle class, its poor. but yeah, in brazil they are working middle class, and they supported Lula, until he was taken out of the equation.

people were so fed up with operation car wash that Lula was leading in the polls even after he was disqualified from running in the election. yeah.

Brazil seems to have a much worse problem with fake news than US or India. people believing that all that progress Brazil made under Lula was just smoke and mirrors, and that it was necessary to bring back brutal military style govt to 'clean up'. what's to clean up?

this right wing resurgence can end in only one of two ways. either war, or a resurgence of the left. again. Its not a lasting thing. right wing govts are a flash in the pan. eventually society readjusts to being moderate.

don't forget Lula's party was in power since 2002, and it was some austerity measures that Dilma put in place, under pressure from trade unions and wall st that pushed Brazil's economy off the cliff, increased crime, and poverty. They can and will be reversed under Lula. and people believe him. He was leading comfortably in the opinion polls, even after he was barred from contesting.

The reason I am saying is I have been working in Brazil from 98 as a mining engineer and travel there every month. I have friends and you do not know the ground reality. Just come and live in São Paulo in jardins area . Real estate prices in that area shot up by 2000% after this idiot whit Obama (lula) came. He just said I will give everything and just hammered the country into recession. The reais was at 1.34 in 1998 and. It is hovering at 4 right now. Please know the facts and comment

And you are comparing India with Brazil . You know they have the biggest poor people in Brazil in some of the favelas in rio and São Paulo. Just do not see the GDP and say something
