Lula hammered the country into recession? haha.. Brazil had the highest period of growth during Lula's period. ofcourse there will be recession during this cycle because neoliberal economy works in cycles. Lula is unfortunately not socialist.

If the country was peaceful, this recession could be tided over with, but when one section of the population (rich class) refuses to cooperate, things will get worse. And unlike India, brazil's poor have a voice, and they kept electing Lula's party back into power.

Ofcourse I don't know the ground reality.. I already said that my knowledge is limited to podcasts I heard about brazil. But I can read numbers, and understand how economy works broadly. Its the same everywhere. Brazil is not special.

From claiming that people were angry at Lula, and Bolsonaro would've won anyway, you shifted to economics. I ask you this simple question. If Lula was unpopular, how come he was leading in polls as late as 3 months back, when he was disqualified from contesting early in the year itself.

forex worth of reals is not important. currency finds its level. To think a country like brazil should maintain its currency on par with dollar is a laughable claim.

It's the consequence of cuts to social spending, rise of police brutality, general lack of order under dilma and Temer.
