The population of the whole world in 1500 B.C. when caste system was invented in India, was about 50 million. Even if you assume one tenth of the people lived in India which is still bigger than what could have been, that would be 5 Million people living in India, with hundreds of castes, you won't even have 10,000 in each caste, most likely less than that.
