Union Women and Child Welfare Minister Maneka Gandhi has said that 45 NRI passports have been cancelled due to an abandonment of wives.

 

There are many frauds in NRI marriages. After the wedding, the girl is taken abroad and abusing the girl, or leaving the wife after her marriage is often going on.

 

The Foreign Office, Women Welfare Department , Home and Justice jointly brought a bill to prevent such incidents. The Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha and need to be passed in the Rajya Sabha.

 

However, the Center has set up an integrated nodal agency to take action against them. Union Minister Maneka Gandhi has issued lookout notices on NRI husbands who have abandoned the agency's wives. Apart from this, the Foreign Affairs Department has disclosed such 45 passports so far.
