There is no perfect place. Perfection doesn’t exist. Everything goes by comparison. Life is never fair, it’s a struggle and the survival of the fittest.

Location, wealth, work, status, circle - none of those matter. If we have a great mind, we can have a great life. Life is what we make of it. Even if we have all these ingredients, life would be imperfect if our mind is not great.

If we ask any American, they would say, kids should just STUDY hard when they are in school/college. Any diversions will only jeopardize their happy future and get stuck in a lousy, unrewarding, dead-end career and unhappy life. It is analogous to retiring early and losing retirement benefits. Ideal retirement age in the US is past 66 or 67 years for full SS benefits:

These people can work for so long into their old age (even past 75) due to their better health and longevity. In India, retirement age for govt employees is 60 years. We cannot compare Tom Cruise to an Indian man of same age. These people look at least 20 years younger and stronger than their actual age. So, our next challenge is to keep our good health and be able to match up to them to work into our late 60’s for retirement with full benefits. Divorce, surgeries, health issues, addictions, etc will only jeopardize our retirement severely.

If we want to be happy, we should work hard from our childhood and save up for retirement from early career days. If we have a lousy career, we cannot give our kids a better life - and history repeats.

The good news is - Indians are gifted with talents, desperately competitive by their very nature (for having grown up in a highly populous country with very limited resources) and don’t behave like entitled trust-fund kids.
