Boris Johnson to be prime minister of the UK

Johnson has been declared the winner of the Conservative Party leadership ballot, beating Jeremy Hunt with 66.4% of the vote. He will formally take on the role of prime minister on Wednesday (July 24) after asking Her Majesty the Queen for permission to form a government.
