NEW DELHI: He is 32 years old, but dressed up as 81-year-old Amrik Singh with dyed white beard and a turban to board a flight to New York from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Sporting fake prescription glasses and carrying a fake passport, he arrived for the security check in a wheelchair on Sunday but couldn’t finally bluff CISF personnel.

As Jayesh Patel, a resident of Ahmedabad, was asked to stand on the podium for frisking by a staffer of Central Industry Security Force (CISF), he refused on the pretext that he was too old to get up and stand. His passport gave the date of birth as 01.02.1938. However, when sub-inspector Rajveer Singh tried to interact with him, he observed that the passenger was not making eye contact.

“On suspicion, Singh checked the passport once. It mentioned the passenger’s age as 81 years but his appearance, skin texture and voice seemed to be of a much younger person,” said a senior official. “On close observation, we noticed that his hair and beard had been coloured and he was also wearing zero power glasses to conceal his age,” the CISF official added.
