A video allegedly showing Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa admitting to carrying out Operation Kamala in the state on the instructions of BJP's national leaders has emerged.

In the video, which was reportedly shot during the BJP core committee meeting in Hubballi recently, the man alleged to be Yediyurappa is addressing a gathering, reportedly of BJP's MLAs. The video is recorded by one of the members at the meeting, and while the audio is captured, one cannot see Yediyurappa in the video.

The voice, allegedly of Yediyurappa’s, can be heard saying: "Don't you know that Yediyurappa took the decision for 17 MLAs? The national leaders knew and they (rebel MLAs) were kept in Mumbai for 2 months. For three months, they didn't go to their constituency or even see their wives or children. You know that they were there. Whether we win or lose, it is a different issue. We gave it a shot.”

The voice is also heard defending the rebel MLAs whose resignations paved the way for the BJP to form the government in the state.

"But at a serious time like this, in spite of knowing that that they (rebel MLAs) got us to form the government by resigning and going to the Supreme Court, you never said that you will stand by them come what may. Imagine you were in their spot? What would you do?", the same voice, said to be addressing BJP MLAs, can be heard saying.

The video appears to indicate that members of the BJP are unhappy with the rebel MLAs and are unwilling to support them in the upcoming bye-elections. It was posted on social media by Srivatsa, who is in-charge of the Youth Congress.

This comes at a time when the Supreme Court is hearing the pleas of the rebel MLAs who were disqualified by then Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar in July. The video comes a month prior to the crucial bye-elections in Karnataka, set to take place on December 5.

In an audio clip released earlier this year in February, JD(S) leader Sharanagouda Kandakur alleged that Yediyurappa approached him to shift loyalties from the JD(S) to the BJP and offered money and plum positions for it.

The BJP has maintained that the party had nothing to do with the resignations of MLAs from the Congress and JD(S). A BJP spokesperson declined to comment on the video released on Friday.

Video of 'BSY' comment on Shah goes viral, HDK to give it to SC at hearing on rebel MLAs

BENGALURU: A day after a purported video of BS Yediyurappa speaking about rebel MLAs and the party president went viral, former Karnataka CM H D Kumaraswamy said they are submitting it before the Supreme Court where a hearing on the disqualification of the rebels is going on.

The video was reportedly recorded during a recent party meeting at Hubballi, where BSY reportedly took to task party leaders who were demanding that BJP tickets should not be given to rebels who have quit their party.

In the video, the voice of someone off-camera said to be Yediyurappa is heard saying that the decision regarding the 17 rebels was not taken by him or any other state leader.

"Our central leaders including national president were aware of all the developments when the rebels were staying in Mumbai," says the person believed to be the Karnataka CM.

Speaking on the incident, HDK said at a media interaction organised in the city's Press Club on Saturday that it sounds like Yediyurappa's voice. "But we are submitting it to the Supreme Court during the hearing on the disqualified MLAs on Monday or Tuesday,'' he said.

Proof that BJP brought down Karnataka govt: JDS on Yediyurappa's video on rebel MLAs

The video in which Karnataka CM Yediyurappa is allegedly talking about operation Kamala seems to be recorded by a member who attended the meeting. While the video captured the audio, it does not show the chief minister addressing the meeting.

A video of Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa addressing the BJP core committee in Hubli where he was allegedly heard saying that the operation Kamala was carried out in the state with the instructions of BJP national leaders including Amit Shah has gone viral.

The video seems to be recorded by a member who attended the meeting. While the video captured the audio, it does not show the chief minister addressing the meeting.

In the 7-minute video, CM Yediyurappa is allegedly heard saying, "Because of the 17 rebel MLAs, we are in power or we would be in opposition for 3.5 years."

"You all know what efforts we put in and even the national president [Amit Shah] knew it. We took MLAs for 2.5 months to Mumbai. For three months, these MLAs didn't go to the constituency or meet their family," Yediyurappa allegedly said.

In response to the viral video, the Janata Dal (Secular) said that that their claim that the BJP was involved in the collapse of the coalition government in Karnataka was proven right.

JDS national working president BM Farooq said, "I saw this video on socal media. It is evident that top BJP leaders were involved in operation Kamala and destabilising the coalition government. Let the law take it's own course and people of karnataka can decide for themselves."

Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao tweeted, "BS Yediyurappa again confesses about operation Kamala and the immoral defection of the Congress MLAs. He also clearly reveals that Amit Shah took care of the defectors for 2.5 months in Mumbai. What more damning proof required that the BJP masterminded this entire operation."

The video also has recorded alleged comment of the chief minister on how the party members aren't willing to support the rebel MLAs in the upcoming bypolls.

"It seems like none of you want the government to continue. You are not standing by the rebel MLAs. Think from their position," Yediyurappa is allegedly heard saying in the video.

The timing of the video is crucial as bypolls are slated to take place on December 5.

India Today TV reached out to the BJP but they refused to comment as of now.

This isn't the first time a video has gone viral with allegations of Yediyurappa confirming the existence of operation Kamala.

Earlier another audio clip was released by former CM Kumarswamy where he alleged that Yediyurappa had approached a JDS MLA's son to shift sides.
