Two more cases reported in Lucknow

Two more people have been diagnosed with novel coronavirus infection in Lucknow, taking the total number of positive cases in Uttar Pradesh to nearly 20. The new patients were admitted to King George's Medical University.

On Wednesday, a junior resident doctor at the King George Medical University was tested positive for novel coronavirus. He developed symptoms after coming in contact with two patients who undergoing treatment for the disease in the hospital. The doctor has been kept in an isolation ward, a hospital spokesperson said.

Game of Thrones actor Indira Varma tested positive

Game of Thrones star Indira Varma has revealed that she has tested positive for coronavirus. Her diagnosis comes two days after co-actor Kristofer Hivju also said that he tested positive for the COVID-19 infection.

Varma, who played the role of Ellaria Sand in the epic HBO series, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the news.

"I’m in bed with it and it’s not nice. Stay safe and healthy and be kind to your fellow people," she wrote.

Indira Varma was starring in the modern take of Anton Chekhov's play "The Seagull" in London's West End which is on hold due to the pandemic.

Chhattishgarh restricts entry of transport buses from other states 

After Chhattisgarh reported its first confirmed case of coronavirus on Thursday, the state government has ordered restriction on the entry of the transport buses coming from other states with immediate effect.

Operation of all passenger vehicles with All India Tourist Permit has also been stopped till further orders.

A 24-year-old woman, who had recently returned to Raipur from London, has tested positive for COVID-19, making her the first confirmed case in Chhattisgarh, health officials said on Thursday.

The woman and her parents, who reside in the state capital, have been admitted to an isolation ward at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur, they said.

Can't say its too serious its under control state govt is acting well..Many offices have given work from home option..

Mumbai lo not many cases reported but one elderly person succumbed..

Schools, malls other public places shut, public gathering not allowed, govt offices also working at reduced load, suspected home quarantine are being stamped.

They already caught 8-10 people with stamps while trying to travel in out station trains, public transport is also being looked in to running on reduced capacity in phases.

Some states have stopped already like Chattisgarh, in some parts of MP, Rajasthan has imposed Sec 144 across state till 31st March...

IPS officer in J&K suspected to have COVID-19

An SSP-rank officer in the Jammu and Kashmir Police is a suspected patient of the novel coronavirus, India Today reported on Thursday. The report said that while his mother-in-law has tested positive for the COVID-19 infection, the police officer has been quarantined.

His personal security guards are also being tested for the disease.

Embassy says wellness facility set up for infected Indians in Iran

The Embassy of India in Iran was on Thursday quoted as saying that in cooperation with health authorities in Qom, a wellness facility to take care of and undertake 24/7 supervision of coronavirus-infected Indian pilgrims has been set up.

"The hygienic facility, surrounded by greenery, has ample space for the pilgrims to walk around. Two full-time and eight part-time Indian student volunteers are helping out dedicated Iranian medical personnel in the effort," the statement said.

Maharashtra police to take action against people violating quarantine guidelines

The Maharashtra government on Thursday said that the state police have been authorised to take action against people who violate the mandatory quarantine guidelines aimed at curbing the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country. The state is one of the worst-affected, with 45 active cases so far.

Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh was quoted as saying that reported instances of people ignoring the advice of home isolation have come to light in the last few days.

"There have been complaints of people who are under the mandatory quarantine period violating the norms and going out in public. I have asked the police to initiate action against them under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897," the minister said.
