What do you mean, what would governments have done, it would have prevented a lot of transfer of the virus from china.

which 'govts'? US govt had the information by the end of January and didn't stop flights out of HongKong until mid Feb. and until early March Trump was vigorously downplaying the threat.

Italian govt, another big casualty, also refused to ban travel until it was late Feb, when it was popular news that Wuhan was under lockdown from the 3rd week of Jan, and the news of the virus was everywhere. Chinese govt gave up trying to stop information flowing out regarding the pandemic by then.

so, if you are honest, all govts acted like govts are expected to act - slow. Why just blame the Chinese govt?

Chinese govt itself acted slowly and locked down Wuhan only 3rd week of Jan. Do you expect US govt to ban flights out of China because  a couple people died of some strange virus in interior china?
