I don’t know the exact cost of the bridges being built but let’s take into the numbers and facts that are posted here..

Durgam cheruvu bridge is really needed, it’s been in the plan for years, helps to decongest the area instantly and caters to at least 1000-2000 vehicles per hour. This bridge is located in the business corridor where the economic activity is very high, a different topographical region with rock formation, no single pillars are laid in the lake bed, completely supported from two pillars from both the ends by steel suspension bridges, And most importantly the average elevation of the region varies from 400 meter MSL to almost 800-900 MSL. The government can afford spend such kind of amount in the city which brings in revenue. GHMC also has such kind of amount, HMDA also has such kind of budgets to supports projects of this size and return on investment also is very high.

Now, Do you want to present some facts and figures pertaining to why such a bridge is really really important to Amaravati ? And why do you feel a bridge at an expense of 1400 crores is really important and is the need instant or considering future ?

I never argued Durgam cheruvu bridge was not needed. Primarily my argument was about the cost which you were suggesting to be high and it is not when compared relatively.

The shortest route to go from Amaravati to Hyderabad would be via Vijayawada, instead this bridge conencts Amaravati to Tummalapalem NH 65 directly cutting down the commute by 40 Km. Given the already worst passing traffic vijayawada has on the national highways this makes sense. This bridge would make sense provided Amaravati had remained the capital of Andhra Pradesh for all reasons. The ROI is not instant, the need is for future considering an increasing traffic as a result of inter-city logistics, regular commuters as more people move in to the city.
