Our astronomical calculations were so perfect. Even now, you name a random year, like 2089 or even 3089, and you based on our ancient astronomy you can predict when there will be solar and lunar eclipse. Can schizophrenic people give such perfect science?

See constructions of that time. Jagannath temple is rock solid. Even according to modern people, that temple was made at least a few 1000s of years ago. Severe floods in Uttarakhand. Mottam villages kottuku poyayi but Kedarnath temple was steady. Autism people kattara?

Do you even know what autism is? Those people have difficulty communicating. So all our scriptures which are present till date were written by people with autism?

Ayurveda- it is such great resource. I know many people who got their PhDs done and their starting point was based on Ayurveda. They just replicated what was there in Ayurveda. Autism unnavallu ichara aa science?

matladite ardham undali.. if you agree till history of kings, what before that? who were there on this land before them?

What ancient Indian astronomers were really good at was observational astronomy. Whatever could be done with naked eye observations, even with a lot of effort, they managed to do it. That is how they managed to calculate planetary positions and periods with such exceptional accuracy that they could be used over centuries.

But that was it. Measuring astronomical distances and speeds requires a lot more than mere naked eye observations. Ancient Indians did not even have a correct heliocentric model of the solar system. Their accurate calculations were based on geocentricism and epicycles!

For example, consider this section from Surya Siddhanta,[1] one of the books from the post-Vedic golden age of Indian astronomy

main-qimg-3e48b877152281876f6da9a327047e65

The book gives the diameter of the Earth as 1600 yojanas, so we can take the length of a yojana to be 5 miles. With this, the first thing you notice is that the distance to the moon is quite accurate — ok, not that accurate but definitely impressive for the standards of those days.

But then you note that every other distance is wrong by an order of magnitude. You can also see many other astronomical principle errors. They thought that the ascending node of the moon was an actual physical object between Jupiter and Saturn, for example. And they thought that all the fixed stars revolved around the earth at a fixed distance, only twice the distance to Saturn! The universe was also finite, smaller than the currently known size of the milky way!

This happened because the ancient Indians had a wrong physical model of the universe. But let us not be harsh on them. They did not have the help of telescopes or all the advances in the theory of modern physics which we use to make such models and measurements.

But then, how did they measure the distance to the moon so well? Is this a coincidence?

Turns out that this was the result of actual astronomical genius. Ancient Greeks had performed this calculation as well.[2] The idea is to use the small but measurable lunar parallax[3] and to express the distance in terms of the size of the Earth! Most of us would not have the ingenuity or patience to perform such an observation even today. But such methods would not work for any other astronomical objects, which explains why all the other distances are wrong.

Most of the social media claims that you will see of distances and speeds in ancient India are mere fabrications. They take some verse not even from a science book like Surya Siddhanta but from a religious or devotional hymn. And they stretch the meanings of verses and add numbers till they can be somehow made to match a modern concept. Please do not fall for such intellectual dishonesty, we can appreciate our ancestors for all that they did without resorting to such lies.
