Apple has changed their strategy in recent few years. They have made all their products costlier as consumers are ready to spend money. The continue to do the same. Depending on how consumers receive it, they will release their subsequent versions.

After initial  version of iPhone, no innovation. Revenue also barely grown since than. As long as Apple fan boys are there, no issues

Apple watch is a game changer. They have made it into a complete medical device. Probably self driving car will come some day. Keep an eye on Apple Savings account. They have a lot of plans there. They may not be as tech-savvy as before but they are getting into Services Sector where there is a lot more potential.

BTW I am not an apple Fan but will not bet against Apple.
