  • Srin changed the title to 50 lakh INR from US Bank

Depends on your bank , some banks require you to physically present to do a wire transfer , even domestic

For Wire transfers , there usually will be a one time fee like 30-45$ depending on bank

You should be able to see the exchange rate before you initiate an International wire , read up on your bank website or better yet , call and talk to them

Why don't you try different services like Xoom etc? You can split the amount and send , If it has to be a single transaction , wire transfers would be apt , they have usually faster settlement..

I am not exactly sure but if you wire more than $9999 in a single transaction , it will be reported to federal govt... no big deal but you may be asked for some documentation in future
