The Federal Government published a press release in the early hours of Saturday morning announcing harsh penalties for Australian citizens who attempt to fly home from India, where more than 300,000 new COVID-19 cases have been reported each day this past week. The temporary ban begins on May 3 and applies to any travellers who have visited India in the 14 days preceding the date they intend to arrive in Australia. Citizens who fail to comply face a $66,000 fine and up to five years of jail time. It is thought to be the first time the Federal Government has made entering Australia a criminal offence to its own citizens.

Australia is working very hard and going great lengths to keep Covid out of the country... there are barely any cases in Australia now.. they want to keep it that way..
