Utlimately these small guys are consumers of what those corporates manufacture. What can they buy if they are out of work ?

They are not going to buy anything. Hand it out to them. They will work if they get bored.

read about fairtrade. Farmers have more control over what they produce.

Sounds interesting but not sure what percentage of food  in the market is through fair trade. I suspect miniscule.

Ultimately a lot of agri products are subsidized. The question is whether you subsidize small farmers or big corporations is the decision govts take

One is not necessarily better than the other

To create a functioning fair market with 1000s of participants is literally one of the hardest math problems to solve. So govts either act as buyer of last resort (like India) or give up the entire food chain to few corporations (like Europe)

I would rather not have people go hungry than satisfy the ego of few people.

No one is going hungry because of lack of production. The hunger index for india has a lot to do with distribution issues.

And more people will likely go hungry if food production is allowed to be monopolised by corporates

Most of the losses occur during harvest and harvest handling. Distribution loss is only small part of it.

They are only selling part of what they produce. Samething as less production.

It's not distribution loss that is the problem. The problem is lack of distribution infrastructure. Farmers throwing their produce in the roads is what? Harvest loss?

What do you think happens during threshing and winnowing?

Dude all that is taken in to account while calculating the grain production. Grain production means grains produced. All these losses are accounted for. Why do you keep saying there is not enough production ? have you ever seen empty shops in india ?

Are you serious? These two activities alone account for more than 15% losses in grain. Storage by these small farmers is another big problem. Most of the calculations on production are based on average values. By the time it reaches the distribution systems 30-40% is lost.
