Unconditional affection towards someone… you give them love and care and you don’t expect anything in return… this can be your parents, kids or your spouse… or even best friends…

Leave unconditional. Is it even practically possible to love-love, give-give without expecting anything? Any relationship is sustainable only when there's reciprocation to some degree. One is practically a Yogi if they could be like the way you said.

Leave expectations, it is also not possible to shower affection if the other person doesn't want to be on the receiving end. This isn't lack of love but respecting other person's boundaries.

Here you are expecting something from the relationship… and looking at love only from a boy-girl angle…

Sons or dads don’t show much affection towards their parents or their kids as much as their mothers or daughters do.. that doesn’t mean they don’t love.. it is more of a personality thing…

No I am not. Kids love their parents because they have taken care of them. Parents love their kids and invest in them expecting they would take care of them during oldage. Every relationship is kind of transactional.

Just the degree of transaction helps one define if the person is selfish or selfless.
