@Android_Halwa even East Godavari is on the list annayya. and Vizag too.

ofcourse s/w exports are not counted anuko. but how come TG not exporting much outside of s/w?

Export from TG uh? Other than services and pharma, nothing is manufactured/produced in Telangana. There is not even a single heavy industrial unit other than BHEL or a refinery. TG does not even have proper oil storage facilities other than a medium size IOC oil depot. It will take another decade or so to even think of non-IT or non -Pharma export from the state.

Forget about major export goods, even FMCG products are also not manufactured in TG.

instead of wasting resources on kaleswaram, TG could've invested in industrial infra.

I don't know. I was just surprised at not finding Hyderabad in that list, with all the pharma exports that allegedly happen from there.

Not really, in fact TG has heavily invested in infrastructure. It will pay off slowly. For any industry, electricity and water are very important and TG lacked both in 2014. 2-3 years from now, TG will be having world class roads, power surplus which may even see industrial tariffs coming down and availability of water for heavy industrial purposes.

Saying so, I don't think TG is a place which should house heavy industry. Service sector and SME's should excel especially for domestic consumption.

I'm surprised it hasn't already happened.

is kaleswaram drawing power or generating power? they don't need that much water for industrial purposes. agriculture is a waste of resources, and only fills the pockets of landlords, and perhaps a few small farmers here and there.

I think TG missed a trick by investing in Kaleswaram.

Hyderabad could've had extensive food processing factories with produce from Andhra, instead of trying to produce their own food, which now causes a glut in supply and is very hard to sell at the desired price.

Kaleshwaram is drawing power. IMO, TG has spent a bit more than we should have on Kaleshwaran. Nevertheless, almost 4-5 districts will never see drought again and not just for irrigation, huge reservoirs are built and filled up with so much water that it will open a window of opportunity.

The start was good, TG started investing heavily on basic infra but somehow by 2017-18, welfare spending took center stage. KCR was a man with a vision between 2014-18. road connectivity, fiber optics, water availability, health, education etc were started off on an exceptionally good note but lost steam. They started picking up again recently.

One good thing that has happened was the food supply network within the state. Some basic problems still exists but food production like fish, non-veg like chicken, mutton, eggs etc are being managed very well and TG ranks first among meat production, inland fish production, eggs, seasonal fruits, etc. Alost all the daily food consumption is sourced locally now. TG supplies poultry and eggs to other states now. It's No-1 in popultyr, chicks, poultry feed and allied activities. Its everyday money and strengthens local economy.

obvious TG economy has grown by leaps. They could've achieved all this without kaleswaram or with an extended bhagiratha to include commercial establishments right to water too..

my question was, kaleswaram was a strategic mistake or not. since that kind of money could've created a smaller canal network with enough for drinking and commercial purposes plus a lot of industrial infra that could provide jobs.

ofcourse kaleswaram construction itself would've provided a lot of jobs. but it'll be a long term strain on TG, with only marginal benefits, and even net negative.

not to mention environmental impact of Kaleswaram. who knows if Godavari will start to dry out in summers from now.
