Wow super bro. I heard in faang ICs get more salary than manager?

what is their secret sauce? Earning 1.2 million in year vs someone taking years to make same .  I always wish to talk and know those people, what they do differently. I only know you bro, to hear things like this Other than all my frnds work in mid scale companies.

Second job oka 2 weeks kooda cheyalekapoinaa bhai nenu aithe, unfrtunatly i couldnt predict the time i need to spend on the first one(akkada maname lead - new proj srarted) if have to take second one … (ikkada two weeks lo lead cheyamanu cheppesaru) and drama startrd  meetings conflicts… damn

2 weeks lo stress peaks , nights no sleep.. time ki no food, not worth ani cheppi , second dhi ninna byebye

2nd job lo client kakunda, implemtation partner kooda meetings attend kavali anta, nenu skip chesaa, (naa tho paatu join  aina okkathi, poi not attending, meetings dropp off ani .. baaagaaaaaaa cheppindi) daantho dobbai ani seppa

PS: oko meeting 2hrs … dimaag dengindhi ….  Tried and failed sucessfully 😃

There is a method to do 2 jobs.

Try an easy job as 2nd job...one which you don't have to think much in terms of technology.

Second...if you get a job with too many meetings...quit it and go back to marketing. You will eventually find one that is very easy on meetings.

2 is easy....3 is easy only if all 3 jobs are very easy.

I know someone who does 2 jobs and works only 1-2 hours a day.....half the time will be in gym, walking, sleeping or at grocery store  during office hours lol

Ic’s getting more salary than mgr is not true. There could be some exceptions.

the secret sauce is grinding leetcode for days and getting swe position in those companies and climbing the ladder like any other company.  They dont do anything differently. U can even try directly as mgr if u properly prepare design q’s

In most of the companies, manager system design expectations are little lower compared to a staff engineer yet manager yields so much power compared to a staff.

I work on 3 projects for implementation partners in SAP managing 5 clients in total. Challenging but not impossible. I have been doing this for past 5-6 years even before covid. I try to have work life balance by starting work early like 4 AM or work till late night to spend time with family during normal hours.

Well, staff & mgr level are pretty much equivalent in most companies.
People get roasted in people mgmt q’s in mgr interview.

Waking up at 4am or working late night itself is contrary to wlb. U cant claim it

Not an easy thing to reach that level imo. I believe most of the people stop at senior that means 500k-700k that depends on the experience, company and competing offers @ that time. 1.2m ante that person may be at a top level/position with lots of responsibilities. He might have 10-15+ experience under his belt before reaching that position. Imo, only few people reach that level.

Not true. I personally read this info from internal doc about managerial system design in Robinhood, Roblox, Stripe and Meta.

However I agree on mgmt q’s in mgr interview bar.

To give you more data points, I've recently cleared L7 Amazon (Sr Manager), Roblox (Manager), Snowflake (IC5 - Sr Manager) and all these interviews are way way easier compared to a staff role.

I am sr mgr at stripe. Design round is pretty much same for staff & mgr. we treat both those same. Offcourse we expect more tech stuff from staff compared to people mgmt with mgmr
