Plot: Amar and Prem are two rivals who belonging to middle-class families with no scope of future advancement. Plot: The story revolves around Sanju (Aamir Khan), a young man from a lower middle class, family successfully beats Shekhar (Deepak Tijori), his arrogant and wealthier rival in an inter-school bicycling race which is the highlight of the small town they reside in. The story is set in Dehradun, a hill station which houses a few exclusive high schools such as the Rajput School, with students from very affluent backgrounds, and a few schools meant for the local, less affluent kids such as the Model School. Shekhar goes to the Rajput School and is generally portrayed to be arrogant and snobbish and a cheat, as are his friends and most of the other students at Rajput School. Shekhar also looks down condescendingly upon Sanju and his friends, who go to the Model School. Sanju, on the other hand is portrayed as a nicer, happy-go-lucky and more down-to-earth character. Other primary characters include Ramlal (Kulbhushan Kharbanda )(Sanju's father), Ratan (Mamik)(Sanju's elder brother) and Anjali (Ayesha Julka), who is Sanju's best friend and secretly in love with him.

Plot: Dhanraj Singh spent years in prison for killing the man responsible for his sister's suicide. His family, and the family of the murdered man, are deadly enemies. Dhanraj's son, Raj (Aamir Khan), falls deeply in love with Rashmi (Juhi Chawla), the daughter of the rival Rajput patriarch, after seeing her at a wedding in her house. Rashmi does not know that Raj is Dhanraj's son, and returns his affection after he rescues and saves her from a group of scoundrels. Then all is revealed, and the two families try to tear the lovers apart. Rashmi is going to be forced into an arranged marriage. The lovers elope and have a brief interval of happiness before retribution strikes.

The lovers stay in a deserted fort. Eventually Rashmi's parents hire a henchman to kill Raj, but he kills Rashmi instead. Raj is devastated and commits suicide with a dagger gifted by Rashmi. The plot is based on Romeo and Juliet.

Plot: Taare zameen par takes the viewer through the world of ishaan awasthi, who is an 8 year old child and happily lost in his own world. his parents want him to be best in studies, sports and what not and keep scolding him by comparing him with his elder brother. his school teachers are no better than his parents. eventually his parents give up and send ishaan to a boarding school to get him straight. this results in ishaan's situation getting worse as he is not able to handle it and becomes inert to everything. then a new teacher ram shankar nikumbh joins the school and realizes there is something wrong with ishaan. he does some investigation and finds that ishaan is suffering from dyslexia, a disease which results in learning disability. with time and care nikumbh helps ishaan overcome it and makes everyone realize ishaan's specialness.
