Well among all the other names you mentioned, 5 out of 10 people in India may doesn't even really know about which stream they were and why they were getting it.

But Sachin is the Man who was known among the past 2 decades in the Word of Cricket, which is the most famous game in the Union of India and so the Govt. considers him for a Bharat Ratna for all his service to the GAME/SPORT of Cricket for so many days and also as a recognition for his dedication for so many years.


Well all the other people you mentioned in the above List may deserve it.. But consider going for a Poll with all these names and check out who can deserve much better:::


Obviously its gonna be Sachin in a Country like India.., Where People think Cricket is the only Game in which India Performs at the top Level..... than many other nations,, even though its played by very few major nations in the World..

Its all about what mattters more to our Country and also the Spirit towards Cricket for him which made him ply for the country for so many years..

still i would say, he is eligible for KHEL RATNA...not BHARAT RATNA.

if the criteria for winning the honorary award is POPULARITY , then again...there will be a HUNDRED others in line..that includes AISHWARYA RAI,SUSHMITA SEN,AMITABH BACHAN RAJANI KANTH( he is in an altogether different league and awards and rajani dont go together...he is d undisputed KING of TAMIL FILM INDUSTRY..his secret help to many is laudable).
