Four projects lined up for launching in next few days are set to create required ecosystem to put Visakhapatnam on the world IT map.

Notwithstanding the dislocation cyclone Hudhud caused to the IT units, in the just concluded financial year the IT industry with HSBC, IBM, Wipro and Tech Mahindra as main players clocked a business of around Rs.1800 crore to Rs.2,000 crore.

Among the four projects, the bottlenecks with regard to land acquisition for Centre for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (3E) – a R&D campus by Society for Applied Microwave Electronic Engineering & Research (SAMEER) -- have been cleared. The boundary wall construction will begin within a week with the Revenue Department paying compensation of nearly Rs.65 lakh to the aggrieved farmers.

The joint venture between VUDA and Software Technology Parks of India is also moving in a positive direction after a long time for construction of a skyscraper at Siripuram for an incubation centre. VUDA’s equity will be in the form of 1.2 acres. STPI has Rs.16 crore at its disposal.

The building will be showcased as a domain specific innovation centre to attract investments in IT applications required for marine, power and petroleum sectors.

Signature tower

The third project is for finalisation of bids to take up construction of Signature Tower at Rushikonda. A twin tower will be built to make it a world-class iconic tower to showcase Visakhapatnam as a global IT hub.

The IT community is also excited over the identification of four acres near Sunrise Startup Village to launch expansion works.

The foundation stone for all the four projects will be laid in a month or so. An official of APIIC has toldThe Hindu that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will be invited to launch work on these projects one after the other.

Vizag Please Understand what we are losing. Raise your Voice.

Visakhapatnam International Airport, the neglected Airport by our Politicians
Yes! This is the truth. The people of northern Andhra Pradesh should come forward to fight for our Airport. Our Airport is ripped off the development by our politicians.
“The ministry has identified six airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad for developing them as major international hubs for aircraft, passenger and cargo movement, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said when he flagged off the ATR-72 turboprop service of Air Pegasus at the Bengaluru international airport.”
What about Vizag airport? Does our minister have interest and plans for developing the present airport?
Vizag Airport cargo terminal is not started yet. It is ready for inauguration since January, 2015. No politician has interest to clear the issues and open it for international Air cargo.
No new route from Vizag by Air India, though there is a lot of demand for International connectivity from Vizag. At least, there is no extension of international routes to Vizag as domestic leg where in passengers can clear immigration and Luggage at Vizag and continue to destination without change of aircraft.
Air permits are not sanctioned to foreign Airlines which are awaiting air permits to fly Vizag since years together and finally dropped their plans eg. Air Arabia, Fly Dubai etc.
If they are really interested and committed for development of Vizag Airport, they would have written letter to these Airlines stating that they are ready to extend every co-operation to operate to Vizag. Instead they will find the cause for denying them. If our Civil Aviation Minister, Mr.Ashok Gajapati Raju is really committed for Vizag Airport development, he can award these Airlines with 3 months (extendable) permit to fly to Vizag. He can do this without the approval from parliament. There are no development activities at the present Airport thought the Navy has given green signal and stated that they will extend full co-operation for development of Vizag Airport.
Now as they cannot blame Navy anymore, they are showing us that they are giving us world class green field international airport at Bhogapuram which is 45km away from vizag. Even this airport to become reality, it will take another 10 years. Even after this, if we ask airlines to start flying to this airport, no one will fly instantly.
Measure should be taken to increase Aircraft, passenger and cargo traffic at the present airport which is sufficient for another decade and should divert the same to the proposed new airport at later stages. Instead, the politicians are showing up about the proposed Green field airport and are neglecting the present airport.
Every one of us should react and should instruct our politician to work for us. Let’s us join hands to act for the cause.
Jai Hind!

If possible send a mail to M.P haribabu regarding this issue. here is his mail id. [email protected]
