While everything people have said about abolishing H4 EAD is true, only thing you can all do in the current market to keep yourself ahead of these H4 EADs is to learn new technologies as soon as they enter the market place and continue to work on those till your immigration situation gets stabilized. 

OR take up FTs if you can get them, and just sit tight. And hope you get naturalized before 20 years.

those days are gone. there is a lot of back lash now against h1b/opt/cpt with documented evidence's unless you have been living under a cave. So for any such regulation or law to get through going forward is going to be an uphill battle.

Also one more key difference is that an OPT candidate would require sponsorship in the future. Whereas the H4 EAD would not require sponsorship at any time in the future. 

So H4 EADs irrespective of their skillset, experience have an innate experience over both H1B and OPT candidates. 

Also what sort of a logic is it where an unrestricted work authorization is provided(H4 EAD) to a person whose authorization is directly dependent on the employment of his/her spouse i.e., H1B who can only work for his employer. 

What sort of a logic is that?
