1st question: 

calculate how many lit they buy each liquid: 510/56.666 = 9

how much they spent on kerosene = 34*9 = 306rs

 

2nd question: 

first calculate total amount they spent in first question = 170*9 + (170*9)/5+(170*9)/5 = 1530+510+306 = 2346

here they spent 2346rs to buy petrol and kerosene

so x+(x/5) = total amount for 1 lit

6x/5 = 2346 => x =  1955rs to buy petrol and 1955/5 to buy kerosene
