• No country for runaway husbands: Continuing its strict stance against husbands who abandon their better halves, the Integrated Nodal Agency headed by Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi got the passports of 45 erring NRI husbands revoked by the External Affairs Ministry. Last year, in May, the government, for the first time, cancelled the passports of five NRI men who had married and abandoned their Indian wives abroad — this was followed by the cancellation of another 8 passports in July and another 33 passports in December.
• Honeymoon brides: Punjab probably has the highest number of such abandoned wives — who are referred to as honeymoon brides as NRI husbands abandon them soon after consummating their marriage — with the total number of such women numbering over 30,000, according to the Punjab government. In the last three years, the number of complaints received of women who have been deserted by their husbands has touched close to 4,200.

• More punishing measures: While passport cancellation is a starting point, many of the NRI grooms may have already renounced Indian citizenship and taken up another country’s citizenship — in which case revoking an Indian passport would be of little relevance. In a move that will probably hurt a bit more, the government has also planned to confiscate properties of such erring husbands or holding them in escrow. The government has also introduced a bill in parliament that envisages compulsory registration of marriages by non-resident Indians, amendment of the Passports Act, 1967 and Amendment to the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
• Assistance for wives: Wives who have been left high and dry by their husbands, especially in foreign lands, may approach the Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF), which offers financial and legal assistance to distressed women married to NRI spouses by all Indian missions and posts abroad — to the tune of $ 4000 per case, which is released directly to the empanelled legal counsel of the applicant or Indian Community Association or Women’s Organisation or NGO concerned to enable them to take necessary and appropriate steps to assist the woman in documentation and preparatory work for filing the case.

I am not going to talk about gender equality or that crap, but seriously that's just lame. No one is guilty unless proven otherwise. It's can be that they are innocent unless proven. That's just wrong.

Cops might have issued the person to return and then they are cancelling ... The partner has made a complaint and they are interfering simple ... If they don't want to get their passport cancelled then they should have taken care of the case... Ivvala complaint iste repu cancel chesi vundaru kada.... they would have followed their procedure ...
