India's fatality rate is lowest in the world, says Centre

The Union health ministry said that 4.4 deaths per lakh population have been reported for the world, while India has reported about 0.3 deaths per lakh population, "which is amongst the lowest in the world".

"This has been due to lock down, timely identification and management of COVID-19 cases," the ministry said.

'No solace' in low fatality rate, says Centre

On being asked whether it was time to end the nationwide lock down in view of the low fatality rate in India, the Union health ministry said it is surprising that the fatality rate in India is low. "While there might be other hypothesis, we focused on early detection of the cases."

"We are not feeling solace because any relaxation is unacceptable right now. We are highlighting that we have managed to contain the virus so far but the battle is not over."

COVID-19 cases on Kerala rise to 964

The total number of cases rise to 964, including 415 active cases, said Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that 67 new corona virus cases have been reported in the state on Tuesday.

 

Karnataka reports 101 new COVID-19 cases

The Karnataka health department said that 101 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state between 5 pm on Monday and 5 pm on Tuesday. Total number of cases in the state is now at 2,283, including 1,489 active cases and 44 deaths (2 due to 'non-COVID19' cause), the statement said.

Maharashtra govt says 80% cases are asymptomatic

Maharashtra chief secretary Ajoy Mehta on Tuesday said currently, there are 35,178 active cases in the state. 80 percent of cases are asymptomatic in the state. The doubling rate in Maharashtra right now is 14 days, earlier it was five days.

 

38 new COVID-19 cases reported in Dharavi

Reports said that 38 new corona virus cases were reported in the Dharavi area of Mumbai on Tuesday. The total number of cases rose to 1,621 in the densely-populated area.

Delhi Police files chargesheets against 82 foreigners related to Tablighi Jamaat

The Delhi Police filed chargesheets against 82 foreign nationals from 20 countries who attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in the Nizabackn area in Delhi for "violating visa conditions, indulging in missionary activities illegally and violating government guidelines, issued in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak," News18 reported.

646 new COVID-19 cases reported in Tamil Nadu

The Tamil Nadu health department said that 646 new corona virus cases have been reported in the state on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 17,728. The toll is at 127 after 9 deaths were reported on Tuesday. There are 8,256 active cases now.

 

Punjab reports 25 new COVID-19 cases today

The Punjab government said that 25 new corona virus cases have been reported in the state on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 2,106. There are 148 active cases in the state now.

236 coronavirus cases reported in Rajasthan today

236 coronavirus cases were reported in Rajasthan till 9 pm on Tuesday. Of 236, 32 were reported in Jaipur.

COVID-19 recovery rate in India at 42.45%

Of the total 1,51,767 confirmed COVID-19 cases, there are 83,004 active cases, according to the latest data released by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday. 

India's COVID-19 recovery rate was at 42.45 percent after 64,425 patients were cured of the disease. 

 

India sees 170 COVID-19 deaths, 6,387 cases in past 24 hrs

India reported 6,387 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total confirmed cases of the novel corona virus to 1,51,767 on Wednesday, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The COVID-19 toll was at 4,337 across the nation after 170 more patients succumbed to the viral infection.
