India reports 1.31 lakh cases, 3,867 deaths

The total confirmed COVID-19 cases in India have risen to 1,31,868, according to the latest update from the Union Health Ministry. The toll in the country is now at 3,867. The reported active COVID-19 cases in India now stand at 73,560, as many as 54,441 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far. 

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu remain worst-affected states

With 47,190 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far, Maharashtra remains worst-affected state in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu (15,512) and Gujarat (13,664).

US reports 1,127 new corona virus deaths in 24 hours: Johns Hopkins

The United States recorded a further 1,127 deaths from COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing its total to 97,048 since the global pandemic began, according to a tally kept by Johns Hopkins University.

The country has also officially logged 1,621,658 cases of the virus, far more than any other nation, the tracker kept by the Baltimore-based university showed at 8:30 pm

US pasta company reports corona virus outbreak at Spokane factory

 A pasta company has announced there was a corona virus outbreak at its Spokane factory as Washington state prepares to reopen parts of its economy, reports AP.

The Spokesman-Review reported that Philadelphia Macaroni Company Inc. said in a statement Friday that 72 workers were tested for COVID-19 and 24 were positive.

Health officials say there was an increase in Spokane County with 31 new positive cases between Thursday and Friday. Company officials say all of the factory employees have since been tested and the facility was disinfected.

Actor Kiran Kumar tests positive for COVID-19

Actor Kiran Kumar Is Coronavirus-Positive And 'Quarantined At Home'

Veteran film and TV actor Kiran Kumar has tested positive for coronavirus and is currently under home quarantine. The 74-year-old actor said he is asymptomatic and is doing "absolutely fine."

"I am asymptomatic. On 14 May, I went to the hospital for a medical check-up, where the COVID-19 test was mandatory. So I got myself tested and the result was positive.

"But I had no symptoms then, nor do I have any now. There''s no fever, no cough, I''m fine and have self quarantined at home," Kumar told PTI.

The actor, who had featured in films like "Dhadkan", "Mujhse Dosti Karoge", among others, said it has been ten days since the test happened and he still hasn't developed any symptoms

New York reports lowest number of daily COVID-19 deaths in weeks

New York state reported its lowest number of daily corona virus deaths in weeks in what Gov. Andrew Cuomo described Saturday as a critical benchmark. The daily death tally was 84 after a peak of 799 on 8 April.

Reducing the state's daily death count to fewer than 100 seemed almost impossible several weeks ago, the Democratic governor said.

China reports 51 new corona virus cases, mostly in Wuhan

China has reported 51 new corona virus cases including 40 asymptomatic infections, majority of them in the contagion's first epicentre Wuhan, where over six million tests have been conducted in the last 10 days, health officials said on Monday.

The country's National Health Commission (NHC) said that 11 new imported cases were reported on Sunday.

While no new domestically-transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported in China on Sunday, 11 imported cases including 10 in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and one in Sichuan province were reported, the NHC said in its daily report.

India now among top 10 worst-affected countries in the world

India is now among the 10 countries with most cases, according to a tracker by the Johns Hopkins University. According to the health ministry's latest update, the country now has 1,38,845 confirmed cases and 4,021 deaths.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu remain worst-affected

With 50,231 confirmed novel corona virus cases, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu (16,277) and Gujarat (14,056).

According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, Maharashtra has reported 1,635 COVID-19 deaths so far. As many as 14,600 patients have recovered.

India reports 6,977 new cases, 154 deaths in past 24 hours

India reported the highest ever spike of 6977 COVID19 cases and 154 new deaths in India in the last 24 hours. The total confirmed COVID-19 cases have risen to 1,38,845, according to the latest update from the Union Health Ministry. 

The toll in India due to the novel corona virus pandemic has risen to 4,021 with reported active at 77,103 and as many as 57,721 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far.

PWD minister Ashok Chavan tests positive for COVID-19

Senior Congress leader and Public Works Department Minister Ashok Chavan has tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday, reports Indian Express.

He is the second minister in the Uddhav Thackeray government to catch the infection after Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad. Chavan is currently admitted to a hospital in Nanded. His condition is stable, sources told the newspaper, adding that he was reportedly under home quarantine for the last few days.

805 new COVID-19 cases, 7 deaths reported in Tamil Nadu

Corona virus cases in Tamil Nadu crossed 17,000 on Monday after 805 new cases were reported in the state. Additionally, seven deaths were also reported in the state. "549 cases are from Chennai alone. 407 patients have been discharged. The total number of positive cases in the state rises to 17,082," News18 reported.

Tamil Nadu govt says 88% cases in state are asymptomatic

Tamil Nadu health minister Vijaya Bhaskar said that 88 percent of the corona virus cases in the state are asymptomatic.

Kerala reports 49 new COVID-19 cases today

The number of active cases of COVID-19 rises to 359 in Kerala, with 49 more people testing positive on Monday, said the state health department.

93 new COVID-19 cases reported in Karnataka today

The Karnataka health department on Monday reported 93 fresh cases and two deaths, taking total number of cases to 2,182 and deaths to 44. The number of active cases stands at 1431.
