NewsFlash! H1B Registration Cap Hit, USCIS to Post Results by March 31st

This afternoon, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that enough initial registrations were submitted to the fiscal year 2021 (FY21) H1B cap. By March 31, 2020, the online accounts will be updated to show one of the following for each registration:

• Submitted – A registration status may continue to show “Submitted” after the initial selection process has been completed. “Submitted” registrations will remain in consideration for selection until the end of the fiscal year, at which point all registration statuses will be Selected, Not Selected, or Denied.
• Selected – Selected to file a FY21 cap-subject H1B petition.
• Denied – A duplicate registration was submitted by the same registrant for the same beneficiary, or a payment method was declined and not reconciled. If denied as a duplicate registration, all registrations you submitted for this beneficiary for the fiscal year are invalid.

Some registrations have already been updated to show as “Selected”. This appears to be an ongoing process by the USCIS.

Those with selected registrations will be given 90 days to file a corresponding H1B petition.
