Same as here in US but less complicated.

Finding a room or roommate will be a challenge, York is not a big/huge city so finding accommodation will be a challenge. Best thing is to tag along Desi students. 
 

Address proof is very important and getting one might be a tough initially if not on the house lease.

Any bank account is same and all that you need is ID and Address for bank account. Usually University has a counter and it’s better to apply one there m, can avoid the hassle of address proof.

Second most important is National Insurance. Apply for National Insurnace and usually takes about 1-3 weeks. It’s just like SSN.

No need to get an ID or Driving license. Buying a car, insurance, green tax and fuel is very expensive so unless someone wants to drive around, no need for a car or DL.

On day-1 of University, buy annual bus pass. Unlimited local travel for an year and there will be no other deal as cheap as this one. 
 

Buy a youth rail card, that saves hell lot of money travelling on trains.

York has comparatively smaller Telugu community. Mostly Punjabi, Pakistani,Bangla...
