he does care about control of priests in temple. Other than that no one gives a fck about "hindus" really - everyone is about their caste. If you read the toi article it was all about priests in temple.

may be govt should just let go of temples, and see what happens. I doubt half the temples are gonna survive that move. all temples are not tirumala level rich

Its not really weird. thats his caste. it doesnt matter he has a phd or whatever these people are hardcore casteists. Govt really doesnt control temples that much other than famous. what control is really there ? does indian govt control anything properly?

also even the Rogi in up is trying to take over temples there.

It's weird because he's so open about it and keeps making 3rd rate arguments for it. also its not about caste, but about the individual's instinct to support hierarchy and dominating relations within the structure it is present.

because if you did remove caste, what will you be left with? a worse form of hinduism that has no checks and balances. 

I'm actually more comfortable with people identifying with their caste, than with their religion. that's how hinduism was supposed to be. castes fighting each other for their place. until recently, when all castes seemed to have aligned towards one delusional goal. make India great again. which is never gonna happen, because India was never great before.
