absolutely. Rajni is purely a media created star, just like Chiranjeevi. 

his best movies were in the 70s, early 80s. He was a competent actor, and mostly charismatic who can hold people's attention with his antics, that were original.

taravatha he became a parody of himself, acting in 10 movies in an year. People call it hard work. But I don't know. It starts dark age for Tamil cinema.

Compared to Rajni who atleast has acted well in a few movies in 70s, early 80s, there's not a single Vijay movie where he can claim that he 'acted'. Vijay is pure unadulterated bullshit.

Kamala Haasan simply has too much knowledge in the cine field ba. You can't say no when he suggests something. I don't think anyone can.

Rajini's mass image started sometime in mid 2000s, and slipped by 2015 when Vijay took over.

When Rajni was Vijay's age, he did have many fans, but was not the undisputed biggest star in Tamil.
