Raw material export was banned by trump in 2020. It just took 1 year for india to wake up.

Understanding Biden’s Invocation of the Defense Production Act

On Feb. 5, the Biden administration announced plans to leverage the Defense Production Act (DPA) to bolster vaccine production, boost the availability of at-home and point-of-care virus tests, and increase the supply of critical shortages in personnel protective equipment such as masks, shields and gloves. Alongside the use of the DPA, the Pentagon announced plans to deploy at least 1,000 active-duty military personnel throughout the country to support mass vaccination efforts. 

A little less than a month later, the President vowed on March 3 to make enough vaccine doses available to vaccinate every U.S. adult by the end of May. This expedited vaccination timeline was attributed to an agreement, brokered by the White House, between Johnson & Johnson and Merck to expand Johnson & Johnson’s existing vaccine production capabilities. White House Chief of Staff Ronald Klain suggested that this new vaccine production timeline was at least in part made possible by the DPA.

Go cry to modi, current export embargo doesn’t effect Covishield as told by Adar, It effects production of covovax which was not approved yet.

It’s not official ban, when defense production act is invoked, the priority should be domestic orders, only after domestic needs are met they can export it.

The raw materials ban was only brought in by Biden is what I’m saying. When the vaccines itself were not in place how did DT  invoke the ban on those materials.

Both Trump and Biden invoked DPA, I don’t think it’s big deal, even India stopped sending vaccines to other countries which they did not even develop.

The raw materials are not exported to any country, it’s not exclusive to India.

My comment is specific to the point that the raw materials were banned in 2020 and it took 1 year for India to wake up. The actual ban on those materials was invoked by Biden in March 2021 and I provided the source.

The point is that US stocked up enough doses and are still banning the export of RM to a country which helped them last year and is in an emergency.
