Caste lekapothe ee story enduku undhi mahabharatam lo

220px-Ekalavya's_Guru_Dakshina.jpg

Two Versions:

Arjuna after witnessing Eklavya is superior to him as an archer. he frustrated and keeps thinking about Eklavya. then he went to Drona and reminds his vow. the vow is that no one of his students would surpass Arjuna in archery because Drona was partial towards arjuna. then Drona along with arjuna go to Eklavya and Drona asked his thumb as a Guru Dakshina.

Ekalavya was the son of Hiranyadhanus, the chief of Nishada. He served under King Jarasandha's army as General. His father Hiranyadhanu was the commander of the most powerful king of the period, Jarasandha.

Even king Nala was a Nishada. Eklavya was distant cousin of Krishna who was adopted by Nishadas. He bore enmity towards Krishna and was an ally of Jarasandha. His father and his tribe were allies of Jarasandha a potential threat to Hastinapur. Drona did teach to Panchal princes but by then their relations had turned into matrimonial alliance because of Arjuna. Here relationship were kind of risky. Why to take risk of having someone working for a potential threat and teach him? Here caste logic is tricky as by birth he was a yadava. Why Nala could be a king after being a Nishada? Even satywati was fisherwoman but she was married to Shantanu.

ee mata cheppukodanki sigguga ledha…

Brahmins of Maharashtra were opposed to anoint Shivaji. According to the system of Chaturvarna, Shivaji was Shudra and not from Kshatriyas or Brahmins. Even after winning and establishing the large kingdom, Shivaji was not considered eligible for the being a king by Brahmins. Not only Brahmins but Kshatriyas also didn’t want to accept Shivaji as a king.

Strictly according to scriptures, the various jātis (i.e. birth-based groups) have been mixing and blending since the time of Mahabharata. Yudhishthira himself says that.

Then, Vishnu Purana also says that the Kshatriya bloodlines have ended after the end of the Nanda dynasty (nandāntam kṣatriyakulam).

So all the dynasties that came after the Nandas are from non-Kshatriya bloodlines. But even for those who are fanatical about “pure” bloodlines, the Mahabharata itself has already said that there are no more such pure bloodlines of any jāti, be it Brahmana or Shudra. Mahabharata itself is full of the stories of mixed marriages, and various famous personages who were born from mixed marriages. Dhritarashtra and Pandu themselves were born from Veda Vyasa, who himself was born from a fisherwoman. And if we consider the birth of the Pandavas from a realistic point of view, rather than a mythical point of view, then they were born from niyoga, i.e. through “outsourcing” to Kunti and Madri. The “deities” with whom Kunti and Madri had the Pandavas would have to be considered some generous men whose birth-based class is unknown. But the Pandavas were selected by Krishna because of their good qualities.

All the great rulers under whom Hindu civilization reached its pinnacle were all non-Kshatriya. Guptas were Vaishyas. Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas, Cholas, Pratiharas, Palas, Chandelas, Rajputs, etc were all Shudras.

Any dynasty that called itself Kshatriya, did so by way of sentimental connection to the ancient great qualities of Kshatriyatā. None of them could actually show “pure” bloodline to some ancient Kshatriya lineage. How could they, when generations of mixing has been going on?

  • Krishna recognized the great qualities of mixed birth Pandavas and Shudra Vidura;
  • Chānakya recognized the great qualities of Shudra Chandragupta Maurya;
  • Svāmi Vidyāranya recognized the great qualities of Shudras Harihara and Bukkarāya;
  • Samartha Ramdas recognized the great qualities of Shudra Shivaji.
