Is there anything written on paper such as lease start date, owner, lessee etc…? Still he can’t do anything… just be tough and hold your ground, and don’t deal with him casually, deal legally.

As others said, check land ownership in Dharani portal. That's the first step.

Is that uncle guy your mother's brother ? 

If so, they may be thinking that they can get land easily. If you want to counter, if your uncle inherited properties,   file a case for share in all properties owned by him. That brings them to negotiation. 

 

Now a days, land prices are touching the sky, so these kind of litigation is common. 

If anyone from your close circle have influence over him, try to get their help and sort it out.
