I don't think a single Indian city will have walkable footpaths by 2030

I am not even talking about hard stuff , india can't even develop such basic infrastructure.

Best thing india can do is make big cities be independent of Indian constitution and courts  , like  Hong Kong model

Mental batch vacchindhi. Big cities will put restrictions on who can come then.

Rey you already escaped from india - congrats. Now just be decent enough to shut up. Dont put even more marginalizing of poor there.

Inko mental batch idhi. Comparring pricing with restrictions of movement. Your arguemetns on metro are valid if hyderabad is reducing city buses to accomodate metro. i see nothing of sort.

in fact city buses will be even more comfortable with atleast some crowd goiing to metro.

edisaav.. big cities that have good footpaths will also not 'ban' poor people. They'll simply lock them up, or let them build ghettos away in some corner somewhere.

Hyd buses carry 10 times that of metro. what's the investment into a system that carries 10times that of metro.

fcuker that supports elite transit systems is lecturing people about being elitists. have some shame man..

China has a "hukou" residency system which enabled systematic and orderly development of their cities

Right now both state and central govt treat cities as a piggy bank to win elections all over the country. There is absolutely no incentive to improve urban infrastructure . Their only priority seems to be new real estate ventures

China has no caste system. In china the power was taken by peasants - the agri workers themselves.

So china can do such things. Not here.

Chinese systems have always leaned towards local autonomy, which is a feature of all communist states.

elections have nothing to do with the state of Indian cities. overall investment in infrastructure is a trickle compared to what's happening in China. not particular to cities.
